KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) welcomed the RM250 billion people-centric economic stimulus package which brings benefit to all walks of life in the country.
Its Chief, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, said the stimulus package reflects the commitment of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government which cares about the people’s welfare and wellbeing.

He said the people-centric stimulus package tabled by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Friday has been well planned and is inclusive so to ensure no one is left behind in facing the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

“The people-centric stimulus package is very good and has given a breath of relief and hope to people in this country who are affected by the Covid-19 outbreak and the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“The MCO has affected many people. The source of income for most of them were affected, as they could not go out to work or do business for supporting their respective family.

“With the various types of “one-off” assistance, apart from the other incentives, the wellbeing of whole sectors of the community including entrepreneurs, private workers, civil servants, government pensioners, students, farmers, breeders, fishermen, small and medium industries (SMI) and so on are safeguarded and thus can ease their burdens,” he said in a statement today.

During announcing the package, Muhyiddin had said that RM128 billion will be used for protecting the people’s welfare, RM100 billion for supporting businesses including Small and Medium Enterprises (PKS) and RM2 billion for strengthening the country’s economy.

“All these are an addition to the RM20 billion which was announced in the economic stimulus package before this.

“The people-centric package will provide immediate assistance for easing the burden of all without leaving anyone behind,” he said.

Hajiji, who is also Sulaman State Assemblyman, said Muhyiddin has shown a fine and people-first leadership, which shocked his critics.

He said, in facing the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis and the gloomy world economy, he (Muhyiddin) has done the best for the beloved people and nation.

According to him, in the context of Sabah, people in this State are greatly in need of assistance like that, because they are affected daily by the impacts of Covid-19 pandemic.

“Now with the assistance from the Federal Government, the people will be happy and relieved especially the Muslim community who will be celebrating the month of Ramadhan late next month and Aidilfitri at the end of May,” he stressed.

Hajiji also welcomed the huge allocation provided to the Health Ministry (KKM) for increasing its capacity and purchasing equipment and services for fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Sabah Bersatu also thanked the Federal Government for providing a special allowance to the front-liners particularly those in health and security agencies.

“Sabah Bersatu and the people in general truly appreciate and highly value the contribution and sacrifices of the front-liners who strive to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country, even until there are among them also get infected by the virus or lost their life.

“Covid-19 virus know no boundary, race and religion. Therefore the people must abide by the MCO with great self-discipline and stay at home for the whole community’s health and wellbeing,” stressed Hajiji.-pr/BNN
