KOTA KINABALU:The State Government has approved a RM160 million Bantuan Prihatin Covid-19 to help all levels of society hard hit by the pandemic.
This is in addition to the RM50 million approved by the State Government early this month.
The funds, to be disbursed through various ministries in the form of monetary aid will benefit those in the agriculture, tourism (guides, porters, divemasters), transport (taxi, bus, lorry), hawkers, orphans and single mothers among others.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Hj Noor said this after chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting here today.
He said of this amount, RM1 million will be channelled through universities to help institute of higher learning (IPT) students affected by the pandemic.
Datuk Seri Hajiji also announced the establishment of the Sabah Economic Council to discuss way forward on the state’s economic recovery.
He said membership of the Council to be announced soon will comprise captains of the industries, businessmen, NGOs and academicians. -pr/BNN
