 KOTA KINABALU: The State Government appreciate the dedication, hard work and sacrifices of Health Ministry personnel at all levels, particularly the frontliners in combating the Covid-19 pandemic in Sabah.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Hj Noor said the federal health authority under the able leadership of Director General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah was doing its level best to fight the pandemic in Sabah and the country.
“I am happy to note that Covid-19 cases in Sabah is beginning to stabilise following a decline in cases as announced by Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham yesterday and that many zones and districts in Sabah have turned green,” he added.
Speaking after receiving ventilators, mobile x-ray machines, face masks and financial contribution to the State Covid-19 Disaster Management Committee to assist the fight against the pandemic at the State Administrative Centre (PPNS) here Friday, he said cooperation from all is needed in order to effectively beat Covid-19.
Towards this end, Hajiji extended his gratitude to the contributors namely Hap Seng Group through Lau Gek Poh Foundation, Petronas through Yayasan Petronas and Cement Industries Sabah.
“On behalf of the State Government I would like to extend appreciation for the contributions, which are really needed in combating Covid-19 in Sabah,” he said.
In the brief ceremony, Hap Seng Group Director, Datuk Simon Shim presented RM2 million through Lau Gek Poh Foundation for the purchase of three high technology mobile x-ray machines and 11 units of mobile ventilators to be used throughout Sabah.
While Petronas was represented by its Sabah/Labuan Head, Rokiah Sulaiman handed over one million masks to the Sabah Covid-19 Disaster Management Committee.
Cement Industries Sabah Chairman Datuk Japlin Akim presented a mock check for RM100,000.
Also present were Minister of Local Government and Housing cum State Covid-19 spokesperson, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, State Secretary, Datuk Seri Sr Haji Safar Untong and State Health Director, Datuk Christina Rundi. -pr/BNN
