KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor commended the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council (MPWS) for initiating programmes to benefit women in Sabah.

“It is heartening to know that these programmes have succeeded in achieving its goal,” he said when meeting the MPWS committee led by its president, Datuk Dr Hajah Tarsiah TZ Taman who briefed the Chief Minister at Menara Kinabalu here, Monday.

The Chief Minister approved two initiatives proposed by MPWS namely Creating Millionaires Among Young Women Entrepreneurs (CreaM@YWE) programme and the Sabah Women’s Leadership Academy (AKWan).

Tarziah briefed the Chief Minister that MPWS will enroll the second group of women entrepreneurs aged between 21 and 40 for the three-year CreaM@YWE programme beginning this November following the success of the initial batch.

She also briefed Hajiji that MPWS has set it sight to build AKWan as a platform to empower women in Sabah through various leadership modules and programmes.

Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Ir Shahelmey Yahya, whose ministry oversees MPWS was also present. -pr/BNN
