KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing will be officiating at the historical event of the reopening of the Malaysian Chinese Museum at Wisma Huazong here, tomorrow.
Announcing this in a brief statement issued today, Huazong President Tan Sri T.C Goh said Huazong was delighted that not only it finally gets to reopen the Malaysian Chinese Museum, but more so, as it managed to invite Ouyang as the guest-of-honour to preside over the historical event.
The said event will also be made more significant with the presentation of ‘letter of appointments’ to the panel of advisors to the Museum, among whom are the prominent leaders, scholars and experts in the relevant fields.
The ceremony for the official reopening of the Museum will commence at 11 am, with the speeches and presentation of the ‘letter of appointments’ for the panel of advisors to be held at Tan Sri Koo Yuen Kim Auditorium, and to be followed by the luncheon at Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay Hall.
Goh also noted that it would be Ouyang’s maiden official visit to Huazong since he arrived in Malaysia to assume office, in December 2020. Despite the many restrictions imposed by the government during the Covid-19 pandemic, Huazong leaders managed to conduct meaningful exchanges with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, via online, as well as in person, at the Embassy.
“However, tomorrow’s event would be Ouyang’s maiden official visit to Huazong and to the Malaysian Chinese Museum, and we would be truly honoured by his presence,” said Goh.
He also acknowledged that all these years, Huazong maintained a close rapport with the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia; and since Wisma Huazong was officially commissioned in January 2016, it has hosted numerous exchanges between Huazong and the various past Chinese Ambassadors to Malaysia like Bai Tian and Dr Huang Huikang, and they also visited the Malaysian Chinese Museum to gain an insight of the history of Chinese community in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Goh also encouraged members of the public to log onto Huazong’s official Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/huazong to watch the live streaming of the reopening of the Malaysian Chinese Museum.-pr/BNN
