KOTA KINABALU: Increased tertiary enrolment for strategic areas is essential for Sabah, according to Dr. Rafiq Idris, the recently appointed Vice Chancellor of University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF). According to Dr. Rafiq Idris, it is crucial to support the state’s development objective by having a population with better tertiary education attainment and the correct mix of knowledge and labour force skills that are diverse based on sectoral demands.
Dr. Rafiq emphasizes that UCSF is making an effort to support the state’s development agenda in this respect by providing human resources that will help the Sabah labour force. He goes on to say that, despite being a role-model boutique green institution, UCSF provides a variety of programmes at the diploma and degree levels.
The university generally consists of four faculties, including the faculties of management and entrepreneurship, natural science and sustainability, arts and creative media, and development and multicultural studies. The institution also houses the Institute of Borneo Studies and the Centre of Languages and Generic Development. The university operates the Program Khas Anak Negeri and the Nature Inspiration Art Gallery under its teaching and learning factory (NIAG).
UCSF is offering a variety of programmes at the diploma and bachelor’s degree levels for the upcoming September 2022 intake. Among the courses available are:

c) Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (Hons)
d) Diploma in Accounting
e) Diploma in Business Management
f) Diploma in Hotel Management
g) Diploma in Tourism Management
h) Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Sustainable Resource Management and Conservation
i) Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Development Studies with Media Communication
j) Diploma in Media Studies
k) Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons)
l) Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons)
m) Diploma in Visual Arts and Design
Having said that, the institution strives to produce students who are financially, digitally, and environmentally educated regardless of the degree they are enrolled in. The university aspires to support Sabah’s creative industry expansion and the state development agenda.-pr/BNN
