KOTA KINABALU: In our plural society, the Hari Raya celebration is for all communities, regardless of race or religion, says Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
She said this conducive environment is what makes Sabah an exemplary and enviable state for religious tolerance, invariably contributing to the prevailing multiracial peace, harmony and unity in the state.
“Similar to the jubilant mood and feastful atmosphere for Chinese New Year and Pesta Kaamatan, the Hari Raya Festival is for everybody to embrace, irrespective of our ethnic or cultural background.
“When we congregate under the ‘Open House’ concept, we share the festive joy. Our togetherness will strengthen our bond and enhance interracial relationship,” she said in her Hari Raya message on Saturday.
Liew emphasised the need to perpetuate this healthy culture for posterity without disruptive forces.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment (KePKAS), I wish all Muslims ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri’,” she said.-pr/BNN
