KOTA KINABALU: The Main Organising Committee of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2025 (UNK2025) paid a courtesy call today to Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datin Seri Panglima Datuk Hajah Faridah Binti Haji Tussin, wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sabah.
The visit was held to officially introduce the newly appointed committee, led by Co-Chairpersons Tindarama Datuk Joanna Datuk Kitingan and Tindarama Dr Mary Gambidau, who will spearhead this year’s Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan — a revered cultural pageant that celebrates the strength, identity, and heritage of Sabahan women.
During the meeting, the committee extended a formal invitation to Toh Puan to attend two key events in the UNK2025 calendar. The first is the Sodop Unduk Ngadau (SUN2025), which will take place on 28 May 2025 at KDCA Hongkod Koisaan. This elegant evening will showcase the finalists in evening gowns designed by talented local designers, highlighting the creative artistry and cultural fusion in contemporary Sabahan fashion. A portion of the proceeds from SUN2025 will be channelled to the Huguan Siou Education and Charitable Foundation as this year’s beneficiary. While all tables for SUN2025 have been sold out, gallery seats (without food) remain available for purchase at the KDCA Office.
Toh Puan was also invited to grace the Grand Finale and Coronation Day of Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan 2025, scheduled for 31 May 2025 at KDCA Hongkod Koisaan. This event marks the peak of the Kaamatan celebration and the culmination of the cultural pageant.
As Sabah prepares to welcome people from all walks of life to the festivities, this year’s Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan continues to carry the message of inclusivity, unity, and shared cultural pride which embodies the spirit of Kaamatan for All.-pr/BNN
