KOTA KINABALU: The International Youth Leadership Training programme will go a long way towards moulding young leaders as change-makers to shape the future, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
“The world needs your ideas, your energy, and your vision. The challenges we face in our society demand fresh perspectives and bold actions, and I am confident that each of you brings unique strengths and insights that will contribute to your discussions over the coming days,” he said.
Speaking at the opening of the International Youth Leadership Training at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here today, Hajiji said:‘We want to see that the youth continue to rise to leadership challenges, it is essential to recognise and nurture their potential.
“Encouraging young people to engage actively in community initiatives and leadership training is imperative for fostering a new generation equipped to tackle the complexities of the modern world.
”His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.The prograe involving youth leaders from 12 South East Asia and Pacific countries is organised by Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP) in collaboration with the United Sabah Islamic Association (Usia) and several state and federal government departments and agencies as well as and NGOs in Sabah.
“I hope this leadersip training will enhance your leadership skills, foster collaboration and that there will be opportunities for you to engage in meaningful discussions, learn from each other’s experiences.
“Remember, leadership is not just about holding a position of authority; it’s about influence, responsibility, and service to others.
Step out of your comfort zones, embrace new ideas, and engage actively with your peers. ‘Build connections and share your stories. Embark on this journey of learning, growth, and inspiration. Once again, welcome, and do make this training a truly transformative experience,” he said.
The Chief Minister was confident that with the training and guidance provided by RISEAP, the participants will be able to emerge as capable and competent human resources, as desired by the Malaysia Madani Government and in line with the human capital development needs under the Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan agenda.
“I believe the mentors provided by RISEAP in organising this training will be able to achieve its intended objectives,” he said.
The Chief Minister also expressed gratitude to RISEAP under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Openg for choosing Sabah as host for the International Youth Training programme.-pr/BNN
