TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said the women’s welfare and needs have not been neglected, as they also play a role in the state’s development.
“We appreciate the role of women and we do not forget about their welfare,” he said.
Speaking at the presentation of kichen aids to about 1,000 housewives in Sulaman at the Bajausamah Cultural Centre in Lok Batik here today, he said that the people’s prosperity, which includes taking care of the people’s welfare.are among the priorities of the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development plan.
Hajiji, who is the N12 Sulaman Assemblyman, said that he was confident of women’s support, particularly in Sulaman which will determine the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) victory in the upcoming state election.
Hajiji said he can count on the support of the womenfolk and with their hard work, he is confident of a GRS victoryHajiji also lashed out against the opposition for claiming that the GRS is a failed State Government.
“When I took over the helm off government, Sabah, just like other parts of the world, was facing a grim situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that the country’s political landscape was so volatile then.
” I myself was also infected by COVID-19. For two months, I was unable to meet with my government officials nor came to office. But, in those difficult times and with resolve, we came up with the idea to push forward with the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development plan,” he said.
The Hala Tuju SMJ was formulated to revive the state’s economy, which had been adversely affected by the pandemic, he said, adding that after more than four years, our plan bore fruit with Sabah’s economy recovery.
Since then, the State Government has introduced many initiatives to uplift the people’s socio-economic status, including the RM300 monthly assistance under the SYUKUR programme for about 100,000 poor and hardcore poor Sabahans in the e-kasih list for ayear.
“In terms of welfare assistance, we have spent about RM1.4 billion to help 70,000 recipients, while in education, the State Government has spent RM1.33 billion under our human capital development,” he said, adding that the State Government has also implemented the Rumah Mesra SMJ, which provides free houses to the people in need in Sabah.
Hajiji said that being able to help the people is a great source of satisfaction for the GRS government adding that with the people’s support, he is confident of retaining the Sulaman seat in the coming state election.-pr/BNN
