KOTA KINABALU: K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd, the developer and management of Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), and SK Nexilis Malaysia Sdn Bhd on Monday sealed a Lease Agreement for the opening of a copper foil manufacturing plant at the industrial park here.

The documents were signed and exchanged between Minister of Industrial Development (MID), Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who is also Chairman of the K.K.I.P Sdn Bhd, and Shin Dong Hwan, CEO of SK Nexilis Malaysia Sdn Bhd, in a ceremony held at K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd building in KKIP that afternoon.

MID Permanent Secretary, Thomas Logijin, and Han Saegyu of SK Nexilis were witnesses of the signing and exchanging of documents.

In his speech, Dr Joachim welcomed the signing of the Lease Agreement saying it is indeed a very important event especially for the Sabah State Government.

“On behalf of the Sabah government, we welcome SK Nexilis with its RM4.2 billion worth of investment in Sabah, which will create 400 jobs for people in this State.

“Thank you to SK Nexilis for making this possible. Thank you also to the hard work of the local team headed by our former MID Permanent Secretary, Datuk Madiyem Layapan, and to all the agencies within MID, as well as MIDA and MITI, DBKK, Director of the State Lands and Survey Department, State Attorney General Office, SESB, Sabah Water Department, SEC and K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd,” he said.

Dr Joachim said the State Government hopes this is only the beginning, as it is also in negotiation for investors in the glass factory from China.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of K.K.I.P Sdn Bhd, Datuk Ir. Melvin Disimond, and other K.K.I.P. Sdn Bhd board members were also present.-pr/BNN
