KOTA KINABALU: Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with the Sabah Tourism Board and Sabah Trade and Tourism Office Singapore, organised a business-to-business (B2B) seminar followed by a familiarisation trip (FAM Trip) in Sabah.
The seminar, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), provided a platform for 20 travel agents from Singapore to connect with 26 local representatives, including travel agents, tourism product owners, and hoteliers from Sabah.
The FAM Trip aimed to showcase Sabah as an exciting and value-for-money travel destination.
The “Meet-The-Experts” programme, launched in 2022 by the Tourism Malaysia Singapore office, aims to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing between Malaysian tourism industry players and their Singapore counterparts.
The programme facilitates productive discussions, networking, and the creation of new business partnerships, contract renewals, and product updates It also focuses on developing attractive travel packages specifically designed for tourists from Singapore.
The itinerary of the familiarisation trip highlighted Sabah’s commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism. Participants had the opportunity to explore Sabah’s rich cultural heritage, stunning islands, vibrant traditions, diverse cuisine, and breathtaking landscapes
The Meet-The-Experts programme serves as a valuable avenue for strengthening ties between Malaysia and Singapore’s tourism industries.
It has generated enthusiastic participation, resulting in the creation of 157 unique travel packages since its inception The program aims to create more exciting and high-quality travel experiences to attract visitors to Sabah and Malaysia as they gear up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Singapore has been a significant contributor to Malaysia’s tourism sector, with Singaporean tourists ranking as the top source of tourist arrivals in 2023 Malaysia aims to welcome 27.3 million tourists in 2024, generating M102.7 billion in revenue. The forthcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026 has set an ambitious target of 35.6 million foreign tourist arrivals, with a target receipt of M147.1 billion.
The B2B seminar and FAM Trip organised by Tourism Malaysia, the Sabah Tourism Board, and the Sabah Trade and Tourism Office Singapore aimed to strengthen tourism ties between Malaysia and Singapore.
