KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Police has promised to provide full cooperation and support, to ensure public safety and smooth organising of the 9th International Dragon Boat Race that is being organized by The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), said its President Tan Sri T.C Goh.
He expressed gratitude to Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun for his commitment to fully support this annual event, including sending teams and athletes from the Sabah Police force to participate in the dragon boat race and the “Dragon Boat Sunset Run” event.
Goh, who is also the President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) expressed this in a statement issued today, after leading the FCAS delegation in paying a courtesy call to Dikun, at the Sabah Police Headquarters in Kepayan here, yesterday.
Also in attendance were FCAS Deputy President cum Organising Chairman of the event, Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen, its Vice Presidents, Kapitan Lim Vun Chan, Ng Young Wah, David Chan, Chang Jeng Yung and Shirley Wong, as well as Central Committee members Tan Guan Hock, Philip Chang and Raymond Goh. During the occasion, Goh and Wong also briefed and discussed with Dikun on the preparation of the event, besides having a pleasant and friendly exchange.
Goh also sought support and assistance from the police, to obtain a series of permits for hosting the dragon boat race events, and full cooperation during the event period.
In response, Dikun gladly promised that the police would continue to provide support and cooperation for FCAS’s annual international dragon boat race, especially in maintaining security and safety, throughout the event.
He said that in addition, the Sabah Police would also send its dragon boat teams and athletes to participate in the dragon boat race and the Sunset Run, to show its full support for the events.
Meanwhile, Wong informed Dikun that the “9th/2024 FCAS International Dragon Boat Race” will have the Sabah Governor Tun Juhar Mahiruddin as the guest of honor, with special guests including Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor, the Chinese Consul General in Kota Kinabalu Huang Shifang, and state cabinet ministers.
She added that, with an expected attendance of over ten thousand participants and tourists, FCAS is applying for event permits, security measures, and traffic control to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
