KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor hopes that people in the state, including the Chinese community, will continue to support the present State Government to further develop Sabah.

“The current State Government will continue to drive development because it is our duty to give the best to the people,” he said at the Pesta Tanglung 2025 celebration at the Putra Ballroom, Bukit Padang near here tonight.

Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Christina Liew delivered his speech.

Hajiji said the State Government deeply values the contributions and dedication of the Chinese community in helping to develop the state.

“Therefore, let us continue to preserve and strengthen this unity and make Sabah an example of how diversity can be a force that unites us all.

“In the spirit of this celebration, let us renew our commitment to working together for the progress of Sabah,” he said.

Hajiji said Sabah is a shining example for Malaysia in preserving multi-ethnic harmony.

“With more than 30 ethnic groups, we live in an environment of mutual respect. This diversity is a blessing that makes Sabah truly special. The harmony we enjoy is not by chance, it is the result of the spirit of togetherness, tolerance, and respect practised by every Sabahan.

“This spirit is evident in the way we celebrate various festivals such as Chinese New Year, the Lantern Festival, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Kaamatan Festival, and Christmas together.

“Therefore, the cultural diversity we have in Sabah must continue to be celebrated by everyone, regardless of race or religion.

“This diversity, including festivals like the Lantern Festival, has helped unite the people of this state to live in peace and harmony. This is the uniqueness and strength of Sabah,” he said.

Hajiji assured that the State Government will continue to promote unity through various programmes and initiatives, although such effort requires the support of all parties, including non-governmental organisations and community leaders.

“Therefore, I hope the people of this state will remain united and not be easily swayed by baseless narratives spread by irresponsible parties,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the State Government has implemented various programmes to improve the economy of the people and the state.

“Beyond that, other areas such as education, human capital development, and the wellbeing of the people are also key priorities of the state government.

“We know there are challenges to address, including those inherited from previous administrations, such as water and electricity supply.

“However, the current government will continue to do its best to resolve these issues through both long-term and short-term initiatives. What matters most is the support of the people so that Sabah can continue to prosper within Malaysia,” he said.-pr/BNN
