KOTA KINABALU: The Palliative Care Association of Kota Kinabalu (PCAKK) announced that its Annual Charity Dinner & Show 2026 will be held on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at 6.30 pm at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

Organising Chairman, Dr. Mathan Rao, emphasised that the annual fundraising event is vital in sustaining the Association’s home-based palliative care programme and supporting patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses. He explained that the event is organised to raise funds for PCAKK, which provides medical aids and equipment for patients to use at home, offering comfort and enabling families to care for their loved ones in familiar surroundings, entirely free of charge. Established 28 years ago, PCAKK remains dedicated to alleviating the burden on patients living with incurable cancers and other life-limiting conditions.

PCAKK’s services are focused on enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families confronting the challenges of life-threatening illnesses. Currently, the Association offers care for patients with cancer, organ failure such as kidney, heart, and lung diseases, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, motor neurone disease, and stroke. In addition, PCAKK supports children with life-limiting illnesses and provides a comprehensive support system to help patients live as actively and comfortably as possible.

Deputy Organising Chair, Elsie Tan, expressed hope that the event would raise RM300,000 to enable the continuation and expansion of PCAKK’s services. She stated, “We aim to raise this funds through this Annual Charity Dinner & Show to sustain and strengthen the vital work carried out by the Association for the community.”

According to her, tickets for the event are already on sale, covering the 150 tables available, with some having already been reserved. She expressed her hope that discerning members of the public would come forward to support this worthy cause.

PCAKK President, Dato’ Dr Jaswant Singh, highlighted another key goal of the fundraising campaign. He noted that having served the community for over 25 years, it is now time for PCAKK to establish a permanent base and have a building of its own. He called on generous donors to support this vision, helping the organisation reach this important milestone.

To further support fundraising efforts, paintings by talented local artists will be available for purchase during the event. Several of these artists have established reputations, and their works are highly prized by collectors. Adding to the evening’s excitement will be a special auction featuring a highly coveted Omega timepiece.

PCAKK Advisor, Datuk Margaret Lim, expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “We feel truly privileged that an item cherished by its previous owner is being passed on with love to support patients with terminal illnesses and their families. We hope the auction will raise significant funds and inspire guests to bid generously in the spirit of compassion and giving.”

The Organising Committee had initially paid a courtesy visit to the Head of State Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Musa Haji Aman, to brief him on the Association’s work and the objectives of the fundraising event.

During the visit, the Committee had the honour of inviting the TYT to attend and grace the Annual Charity Dinner & Show 2026. The Association is deeply appreciative of the support and interest shown in PCAKK’s efforts to serve patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses throughout Sabah.

Tickets for the event are now available at various packages, with the Diamond Package priced at RM20,000 per table of ten, followed by the Sapphire Package at RM15,000, the Emerald Package at RM10,000, the Ruby Package at RM5,000, and the Pearl Package at RM2,500.

Guests will enjoy an eight-course Chinese dinner complemented by an evening of outstanding entertainment. The programme will commence with a performance by local singer, songwriter, and vocal coach Rhowell Rolland, founder of Fortissimo Music Studio in Tuaran. He will be joined on stage by Christal Ann Stephen, the 2026 Sugandoi Champion, in a special duet.

The highlight of the night will be The Australian Bruno Mars Show, a lively tribute celebrating the music, style, and legacy of the global superstar Bruno Mars and the influential artists who inspired him. This performance goes beyond simply performing hits; it captures the energy, fashion, and charisma that define Bruno Mars’ live shows, without impersonation.
