KOTA KINABALU: As a new party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Sabah will strive to the fullest to build up the people’s confidence.

BERSATU Protem Chief Sepanggar Division, Razali Razi in a statement said their focus is to provide services and become a platform for delivering the people’s aspiration.

Now is the time to serve the best possible and the people will choose who are the leaders they can trust that can assist them, he stated adding that it is the core of BERSATU to go down to the ground to get closer to the people, and not just to make a press statement to gain popularity or a self-made fighter in the virtual world.

“The statement and dare by Datuk Rahman Dahlan to BERSATU leaders are no difference from the tunes of some UMNO leaders during the 14th General Election. The excitement for having extraordinary “strength” made them overly confident to win the election with a two-third majority,” he stated.

“If Datuk Rahman is the best leader for the people, definitely there will be no problem for Datuk Rahman to win the past election in style. But that did not happened during the GE14,” he added.

Therefore, rather than talking on the victory of the other leaders it would be better for Datuk Rahman to focus on improving himself and the party so he will win in wherever place he stand to contest, Razali said.

According to him, the extraordinary “strength” which makes them feel confident of winning has also resulted in their party getting less grassroots support and their defeats in several areas, despite having large number of members.

This was made worst by the presence of imported candidates, and aristocratic candidates who treated the seats as their own personal possession which indirectly discredit the local leaders, he opined.

“Datuk Rahman Dahlan is urged to be patient while waiting for the coming of GE15. With the “autonomy” given to Sabah UMNO definitely will enable Rahman Dahlan to freely choose wherever he want to contest either at DUN Sulaman or try his luck at Sepanggar Parliamentary seat or even can choose both at the same time,” he said.

The arrogance, denial syndrome on own party’s weaknesses, belittling the party and personality of others, should not have been brought back by UMNO if it want to be chosen by the people, he stated, adding that it was better to focus on helping and developing the grassroots and people at the ground level.

Sabah BERSATU preferred to focus on assisting and fighting for the people of all walks of life and their welfare, he said.-pr/BNN
