BONGAWAN: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Sabah urges the government to create strategies and programmes to ensure against development discrepancies and imbalance between Sabah and Peninsula Malaysia in the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12).
Its Information Chief, Khairul Firdaus Akbar said RMK-12 is the development plans for the next five years starting 2021 to 2025, and as such it is very important to ensure Sabah’s direction and level of development post 2020 and towards 2030.
He said, taking into consideration the present government that focuses on prospering together, the tremendous economic discrepancies and imbalance between the two territories should be resolved swiftly.
“The objective of prospering together will not be successful if the economic development, poverty rate and unemployment are still prevalent in a big state like Sabah,” he said.
He said this during the Sabah Zone 3 and 4 BERSATU Information Committee Gathering and Meeting in Birdiy Hall, Borneo Golf, today.
Zone 3 includes Papar, Kimanis, Beaufort and Sipitang while Zone 4 comprise of Tenom, Keningau, Pensiangan and Ranau.
The meeting was attended by the Membakut State Assemblyman Datuk Haji Mohd.Arifin Mohd.Arif who is also the treasurer for Sabah BERSATU as well as BERSATU Chief Kimanis and Sabah BERSATU Executive Secretary, Dato Armizan Mohd. Ali.
Firdaus said, he was made to understand that the government is presently formulating the RMK12 content to be announced next year.
In this respect Sabah BERSATU will mobilise initiatives to go to the ground, to listen and gather the hopes and aspirations of the people in Sabah on important matters that should be considered for the RMK12 contents, he said.
He stressed that RMK12 should be formulated through ‘bottoms-up’ approach to ensure that the plans is of value and significance to the people at all levels especially households with low income in the B40 level.
Firdaus said based on grassroots response Sabah BERSATU Sabah will prepare a RMK12 Memorandum that contains the people’s aspirations and forward it to the government for consideration.-pr/BNN
