KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) cheered up the quiet atmosphere of the Grace Old Folks Home yesterday when they delivered some pastries and goodies to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The contributions were part of the party’s social responsibilities to honour the women folks and thanks them for giving the gift of lives to humanity.
“We pay a visit to this home to show love and respect to the women folks and let them know we always remember them,” said PBS’ supreme council member Goon Thien Shang in a statement.
“This is just a small contributions from us to appreciate the sacrifices of the women folks in supporting the families and communities,” he added.
“We will continue to help the charitable homes in and around Kota Kinabalu area from time to time within their own capacity,”he said.
“We have embarked on this charitable programme to help the charitable homes during this movement control order (MCO) as we understand their financial resources were adversely affected,” Goon said.
The home’s manager Tham Vun Chung who accepted the contributions from Goon was delighted to see them taking the effort to visit them during this MCO period.
“To date we have 14 men and nine women living in the home with ages from 50 to 90 years old. The home have a total of 30 beds, so we will have room for those who want to send their elderly folks here,” Tham said.
The home sited in Likas is a non-medical centre dedicated to provide personal care and assisted living to the elderly. More details can be obtained from Tham at 0168454354.-pr/BNN
