Abandoned baby found at stall

KOTA KINABALU:  A stall operator at Jalan Salut-Kelapa Bakar  found a newborn baby boy in a bag near his cendol stall, yesterday.

According to Kota Kinabalu district police chief M. Chandra the baby was wrapped in a piece of cloth inside the bag.

The stall operator had looked into the bag  at about 12 noon and found the baby, who was weak but alive.

Chandra said the baby was determined to be a newborn by a medical officer and was duly taken to the Tuaran Hospital to receive treatment.

He also said a nurse informed him that the baby had infection due to the unsanitary surroundings where he was placed and he had ant bites at the corner of his eyes and mouth.
