KOTA KINABALU: Tennis, one of the world most popular games is set to make its presence felt at SK Tanjung Aru II here after 16 pupils have took up the sport recently.
The game was introduced to the school last month through a tennis camp conducted by TC Tennis Camp where some 31 pupils attended.
And now half of them have made the cut to continue their training seriously at Likas Sports Complex on every Saturday, said TC founder-cum- coach Claire Godon yesterday.
“Our target is to develop them to represent their for the next year inter-school competition,” said Claire.
She said the pupils who completed the training camp also received certificates.
They start with zero tennis and now they have the basic and will train every Saturday from 11am to
1pm, said Claire who also thanked the parents for supporting their children newly found enthusiasm.
SK Tanjung II sports teacher Sarimah Onong said the tennis camp was organised in collaboration with TC Camp to introduce the game of tennis besides football and volleyball, which was the most popular sports among the pupils.
