SIPITANG: The people of Sabah needs to think from a wider perspective and be far-sighted with “Sabah for Malaysia” as their basis, said Sa
bah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (BERSATU) Chief, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor.
He said Sabah needed good and close relations with the Federal Government for its future progress and prosperity.
“Only when there is close relationship and collaboration between the State and Federal Governments that Sabah will enjoy a continuous development progress.
“The parochial slogan used by certain party concerned is only a political rhetoric to fish for the people support.
“The people of Sabah wants a continuous prosperity and development in the State, apart from peace, security, unity and harmony, from the Government.
“This can only be achieved through close and strong ties between the Federal and State Governments.
“Sabah Bersatu is also supportive of the effort to defend and get back the rights and interests of Sabah as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
“As Malaysian citizens from Sabah, we also have responsibility to the country and that is why need to have a “Sabah for Malaysia” mindset. This is important so that we can progress forward and compete at the global level,” he said.
Hajiji said this at the Sabah Bersatu leadership’s Jelajah programme to its Sipitang Division event held at Lumadan State Assemblyman’s Liaison Office in Kampung Lumatai on Saturday.
Sabah Bersatu Deputy Chief Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, Treasurer Datuk Haji Mohd.Arifin Haji Mohd.Arif, Sabah Bersatu Srikandi Chief Datuk Hajah Azizah Mohd.Dun, Sabah Bersatu Strategic Director Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Lajim Haji Ukin, Spitang Bersatu Chief Encik Matbali Musah and his Deputy, Encik Yamani Hafez Musa, who is also Sipitang Member of Parliament, and other party division chiefs, were also present.
Hajiji, who is also Sulaman State Assemblyman, said the Bersatu Supreme Leadership’s decision to spread its wings to Sabah has been very apt, not “only” because of the people’s request, but its presence as a national-based party and a component of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) Federal Government is very important in the contexts of boosting the development in Sabah.
“Sabah is a partner in the Federation of Malaysia, we must strengthen our relationship with the Federal Government.
“That’s why we joined Bersatu. Bersatu was set up in Sabah for supporting common interests in one nation Malaysia. This is the platform of struggles that enable the people of Sabah get closer to the Federal Government.
“Therefore, the time has come for us to think from a wider perspective and be far-sighted that is “Sabah for Malaysia for the sake of the future of Sabah so the State will continue to progress.
“This is especially now that we are confronted by various problems including the large presence of illegal immigrants in the State.
“That’s why it is apt that Bersatu is present in Sabah so that Sabah continue to be closer to Putrajaya.
“Bersatu must play its role and be at the frontline if there are people wanting to disturb and harm the good relations between Sabah and the Federal Government,” he stressed.
Hajiji also reminded Bersatu leaders to truly get closer to the people to explain about the party struggles.
He said the people wants the party to continue serving and assisting them, which are what should be done by Bersatu leaders at all levels and divisions.
Earlier, when launching the Beaufort Bersatu Srikandi’s Sentuhan Kasih programme at the Multipurpose Hall of Kg Pintas, Hajiji said this programme by the Srikandi is part of the core of the party’s struggles.
He praises the effort by Azizah, who is also Beaufort MP, in helping to promote the party and its struggles among the people especially women in the State.
“This clearly shows that Sabah Bersatu is fighting for them, that Bersatu is attentive and fight for them and their future,” he stressed.
