MEMBAKUT: Warisan campaigners should  not harass the Barisan Nasional/UMNO group who were also campaigning in that same area.

Sabah Umno chief Datuk Bung Moktar Radin they had the right to carry out their campaign too, and as such Warisan should concentrate on disseminating their party struggle and vision (halatuju) instead of harassing them.

Speaking to reporters after welcoming two ex MPKK leaders and Warisan members into the fold in Membakut today, he said on Monday Jan 6, the BN candidate Datuk Mohamad Alamin who was going to campaign in a village, was stopped by a group of people allegedly from Warisan and asked repeatedly where he was going and what he was doing there.

This is harassment, he said adding he didn’t believe in personal attacks, and expressed his hope that Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal will keep the Kimanis by-election a gentleman’s fight.

Datuk Karim Bujang is the Warisan Candidate for the Kimanis Parliamentary Seat.

This veteran politician who was a former assistant minister will be pitting his popularity against BN’s Datuk Mohamad Alimin.

The Kimanis Parliamentary by-election is being held as the Federal Court upheld the decision of the election court that there were discrepancies in the number of registered voters and non-compliance of election laws in the Kimanis parliamentary constituency results, thereby declaring it null and void.

Datuk Seri Anifah Aman won in the Kimanis seat in Sabah in the 14th General Election (GE14) with with 11,942 votes against Karim’s 11,786 votes. Karim had challenged the election results, resulting in the court decision, and the oncoming by-election.-BNN
