KOTA KINABALU: The Centre for Investment, Endowment and Wakaf (CIEW) of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, the Association of Ex-Students of La Salle and Sacred Heart, International
Islamic University Malaysia’s Alumni (Sabah Chapter) and Sabah Economic and Education Society jointly organized a 4X4 Educational Trip in SK Malinsau, Ranau, recently.

The 4X4 Educational Trip was a series of motivation programs targeted for schools in rural areas organized by the Centre’s Director who is also the La Salle alumni’s education bureau head, Dr Rafiq Idris a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy,University Malaysia Sabah.

Besides Dr Rafiq Idris, the programme was handled by Mr Rafley Abd Rasit (Pusat Asasi Sains, UMS) and Cikgu Hairin Mahat (Teacher, SK Malinsau).

With regard to the program’s theme, the key themes which become the emphasis of the motivation program is to increase awareness among students on the importance of having ambition in life, time management and strategy for UPSR exam.

A few different activities were conducted during the half day program. Some of the activities are motivation talk, group discussion with facilitator and video presentation among others.

According to Dr Rafiq Idris this was the Fifth programme under this 4×4 Educational Trip at SK Malinsau.

‘There will be more programs this year,” he said adding that he hoped the programme will help students to better prepare for the UPSR examination.

He stated that the school has been very supportive and its headmaster (Jamain Abdul Halim) very committed to efforts to improve students’ performance.

Dr Rafiq Idris emphasizes that CIEW-UMS, La Salle Alumni, IIUM Alumni (Sabah Chapter) and Sabah Economic and Education Society are very concern on the education performance of students in Sabah.

They are committed in organizing more motivation program in rural areas this year voluntarily.

“This   is part of the alumni’s effort in giving back to the society. This has been instilled into us as La Sallians,” Dr Rafiq added. -pr/BNN
