SANDAKAN: Frustrated with the inaction of the Warisan leadership in the handling of party matters prompted over 1,000 members from the Airport and Sibugal District Voting Centres (PDM) to ditch the party.
Head of the Airport PDM who is also Sejati 1 branch chairman Ibrahim Yusof said among the members who quit Warisan en masse were from Sejati 1, Kampung Sungai Batang Tengah, Kampung Gayan Batu 10, Sejati 2, Kampung Muhibbah, Kampung Nelayan Tengah, Taman Sejati 5, Taman Sejati 3, Sejati 4, Sri Hujung and Taman Rajawali.
Ibrahim said only the Sri Hujung branch is registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) although the other branches submitted their applications before the 14th General Election until today the matter was unresolved.
“How do the party leadership expect us to believe them anymore when they can’t even attend to the branch registration accordingly until this day. Only one branch has been approved after the general elections,” Ibrahim said.
The decision to quit Warisan was due to loss of confidence in the party leadership and we were not influenced by any quarters, he added.
“We had shown our loyalty to the party from the very beginning but sadly after the general elections we were forgotten. There was no point for us to remain in the party if the leadership took our support for granted, “Ibrahim said.
He said members who quit from Warisan were free to align themselves with other political parties, adding that, he was considering joining Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah.
Ibrahim and other branch leaders announced their resignation from Warisan during a media conference at a leading hotel here on Friday.-pr/BNN
