KOTA KINABALU: Local community leaders like Kapitan Cina, JKDBs of the Kepayan area that covers the Kepayan Ridge low cost housing, shophouses areas should be reporting and duty-bound to DBKK instead of the Penampang Council, said Chong Pit Fah.
Chong, who is Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) vice president, had reasoned that since these parts of Kepayan area are under the jurisdiction of KK City Hall (DBKK), on the administration of matters and services such as garbage collection, grass cutting, cleanliness and so on. It is only logical and practical that these Kepayan community leaders be directly reporting, and involve in meetings, consultations with DBKK. In addition, these Kepayan areas comes under the rating of DBKK on house assessment including licensing and others, he added.
“These Urban Community Development Committees (JKDB) are the “eyes and ears” of the government in terms of safety, security and development of its respective areas. It is very important that these leaders be returned from Penampang Council to the jurisdiction of DBKK,” Chong said.
It was learnt that the previous administration had requested that these communtiy leaders be placed under the jurisdiction of the Penampang Council.
“This matter should be addressed as soon as possible to avoid confusion and smoothening up the administration of the community’s problems,” Chong stressed.-pr/BNN
