KOTA KINABALU: Malaysians should be allowed to travel inter district or inter state, said Alexander Yee, a tourism operator.
According to him, he was surprised by the announcement that the inter district and inter state restriction will only be lifted once 70% of the population is vaccinated.
“First of all, inter state and inter district are two different boundaries and should not be treated as one,” he said.
He added that the vaccination exercise will not be evenly carried out which means when 70% of Selangor has been vaccinated, Sabah state might not reached 70% or vice versa.
“So what are the scientific basis to only lift cross boarders or cross district traveling after 70% has been vaccinated? How are they going to quantify and  qualify it?”
During June and July, 2020, when the nation was under CMCO, the spread of Covid 19 was more or less contained until the state election of Sabah, he said.
“So from past experiences, with strict SOP adherence, Malaysians should be allowed to travel inter district or inter state.”
“Many Countries like New Zealand and Australia have shown effectiveness in curbing the spread even without the vaccination. Unless our team of administrator is less able than them, they should re think this decision. Otherwise, the perceived cure might be more deadly than the virus itself.”

On Friday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had stated that the travel ban between states and districts may go on until at least 70% of the population have been vaccinated for Covid-19.-BNN
