KOTA KINABALU; The Hari Raya Celebration at all levels should adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure against infection.
Chinese relation officer for Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Goon Thien Shang said the occasion is usually celebrated with family and friends as well as the community as a whole.
He said this lead to various gatherings and as such a crowd may congregate in one place at any given time.
“This actually is commendable and a norm in our community as it promotes understanding and friendship as well as harmony among the people,” he said.
“This is our culture and had been practiced for generations.”
“We are very proud of this traditions as it brings us together,” he stressed.
He, however, believed that at this time when COVID-19 is still very much present, people should still be cautious.
“Even if there is a downward trend to the infection, we still want to ensure that the infection rate keeps going down.”
He said celebrants should ensure they adhere to the SOP at all time.
