KOTA KINABALU: After a long stretch of silence, and serving ala-carte food only, Cafe Boleh has opened its doors for buffet diners.
Cafe Boleh on the ground floor of Sutera Harbour, is a spacious restaurant that can seat up to 250 people comfortably, who will always be treated to the view of the ocean, while they dine.
With the views of the ocean and the islands beyond, diners can enjoy a mind-boggling arrays of food, which is actually the cafe’s signature before the pandemic occured.
The mains, mostly Malaysian food with European dishes, are sumptuous, featuring beef, chicken and seafood cooked in ways that only the hotel kitchen can do.
There’s also soup at the bread section, which demands seconds as they are almost like a whole filling meal by itself. The various type of bread served are also recommended and especially tasty when they are still warm.
The desserts as usual are mouth-watering and so tempting that anybody on a diet will declare a cheat day in an instant.
The Chef, Chef Siva said the buffet served are reasonably priced at RM88 for adults and RM44 for children, and the table was well laden for guests to try out.
“I will be adding more dishes to the menu as we progress. I have in mind ‘The journey of Marco Polo’,” he said adding that stops by the Italian traveller on the silk road to China will be depicted by serving food famous in the country or place in question.
Briefly, Marco Polo, from Venice Italy travelled to China in 1271 and visited the capital of that time, known now as Beijing. He travelled for four years before reaching the destination. During the four years, he must have stopped in some city or place to rest and enjoyed the scene and food of that time. To boot that he was away from Italy for 24 years, so he would have visited a lot of places and ate a lot of food.
So Chef Siva has a lot to draw from. It can be a gastronomic adventure for food connoisseurs around.
So if you are in the vicinity drop by for lunch, bring a friend or two, as the food demands you sit for a while so you can have seconds or thirds. A good dining companion, or companions is a boon for long buffet lunches.
If you want to have dinner, come early so you can enjoy the blazing sunset first before tucking in the dinner offerings. I am sure you won’t be disappointed.
