KOTA KINABALU: An e-book dubbed ‘Together we are unstoppable’ was launched at University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) in Sembulan here recently.
The launch event was organised by the Malaysia-American Commission on Educational Exchange (MACEE) in collaboration with UCSF, in conjunction with the MACEE 60th anniversary celebrations.
It was attended by over 100 people including representatives of several higher learning institutions, including UCSF, UMS and a few more private colleges as well as MACEE alumni.
In his opening address, MACEE Executive Director Curtis Johnson stressed the importance of educational exchange and the role of educational diplomacy in the context of Malaysia and the United States over the past 60 years.
Sabah Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Ariffin Mohd Arif, who represented the Chief Minister at the MACEE 60th anniversary celebrations, said the Fulbright Programme, initiated by the US Government in 1946, has been a beacon of hope and opportunity for countless individuals worldwide.
He went on to say that the Fulbright Programme epitomises worldwide cooperation and collaboration, transcending geographical barriers and building connections based on knowledge, respect and shared values.
Meanwhile, the e-book editor DK Emas Rudziah PG Mohammad said: “As a proud Sabahan, my heartfelt intention as the editor of ‘Together We Are Unstoppable’ is not only to create a lasting legacy for our state but to ignite a global movement. I believe that the stories and insights shared within this e-book have the potential to resonate with people from all walks of life, transcending borders and boundaries. Through this publication, we aim to start the ball rolling, inspiring individuals and communities worldwide to come together, collaborate, and make a positive difference. Together, we can truly be unstoppable in creating a brighter future for all.”
“The e-book shows how MACEE has played an important role in bridging gaps and changing lives through educational diplomacy,” said the Vice Chancellor of University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) Dr Rafiq Idris.
He added the programmes have contributed to enhancing educational and professional accessibility and opportunity for all qualified Malaysians and Americans.
“Congratulations to everyone who had the chance to work. I have no doubt that their presence will have an impact. I hope that UCSF will have a greater collaboration with MACEE Fulbright Malaysia in the future, and that more beneficial programmes will be organised.”-pr/BNN
