KOTA KINABALU: The Supreme Council of Sabah’s Liberal Democratic Party, (LDP) was briefed at the SC first meeting of 2026 held at LDP’s Headquarters in Kepayan on Sunday 18th January 2026 that the party’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Utilities – BEAUFRAS Bureau will focus on intensified road maintenance by the authorities and concessionaire contractors concerned during the first half of 2026.
Road maintenance basically includes the repair of cracks, potholes and in some cases, complete resurfacing.
The Bureau’s 2026 H1 focus on the maintenance of roads arises from the numerous complaints received by the Bureau and party including many other grievances aired by Sabahans in social media.
To start off with, the Bureau will train their attention to road maintenance in Greater Kota Kinabalu in particular in Api Api, Likas, Luyang and other areas.
In addition, the Bureau has requested LDP Division Chairman and team in the various districts throughout Sabah to assist the Bureau’s team to focus on roads needing maintenance in other urban and suburban locations throughout Sabah. The assistance required relies on the respective Division members’ local knowledge and familiarity with their own town and district.
Peggy Liow the Director of LDP GRS BEAUFRAS Bureau says that, the coordinated exercise, to gather such reports complete with photos and location coordinates together with the proposed repair and/or resurfacing needed on the roads that need attention in their respective area will complement the state government’s 2026 focus on resolving water, electricity and road woes in Sabah.-pr/BNN
