KOTA KINABALU: I extend my warmest Chinese New Year greetings to the Chinese community in Sabah and throughout Malaysia.

As Malaysians, we can stand proud of the remarkable progress our nation has achieved since independence — progress made possible through the dedication, resilience and unity of citizens from diverse backgrounds. Despite our differences, there is far more that unites us. These shared values continue to strengthen our bonds, uphold harmony and serve as the foundation of our collective advancement.

As we usher in the Year of the Horse, let us draw inspiration from the noble qualities associated with this majestic animal. The Horse symbolises strength, endurance, perseverance and an indomitable spirit. It represents energy, determination and the courage to move forward with confidence. May we emulate these virtues in our daily lives — working diligently, remaining steadfast in the face of challenges, and striving continuously towards excellence and progress.

I look forward to the opportunity of meeting and extending festive greetings at the many open houses held in conjunction with this joyous celebration. The cherished tradition of visiting one another during festive occasions reflects the true spirit of Malaysia — a nation where people of all races and faiths live together in mutual respect and understanding.

In this blessed land, there is space for everyone to practise their traditions and beliefs freely. Let us continue to nurture goodwill, embrace our diversity, and resolve differences with wisdom and civility.

May Sabah and its people continue to progress and prosper for the well-being of the state and future generations. Our rich tapestry of races, cultures and religions remains our greatest strength. Together, let us stand in solidarity and move forward as one people — with the strength, endurance and forward momentum of the Horse — for the betterment of Sabah.
