KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Journalists Association (SJA), in collaboration with Maggi, distributed 600 packs of bubur lambuk here today in conjunction with the fasting month.
A total of 400 packs were distributed at Bandaran Berjaya at about 2pm to public transport operators and members of the public, while another 200 packs were given to SJA members during the association’s family day cum breaking-of-fast programme later in the day. The bubur lambuk was prepared using ingredients sponsored by Maggi.
Present at Bandaran Berjaya were SJA President Mariah Doksil, Nestlé Products Sdn Bhd Operations Manager Wallace Tan, organising chairperson Vivi Olviana Najurus, Maggi staff and SJA committee members.
Mariah said the activity was part of the association’s effort to foster goodwill and strengthen ties with the community while embracing the spirit of Ramadan.
“Ramadan is a month of compassion, sharing and caring for one another. It is a meaningful time for us to lend a helping hand, especially to those who are working hard during the fasting month, such as our public transport operators,” she said.
She added that the collaboration with Maggi reflected the importance of partnerships between the media fraternity and corporate organisations in carrying out community-based initiatives.
Mariah also expressed appreciation to Maggi and Nestlé for their support in making the programme a success, noting that such initiatives not only benefited the recipients but also strengthened camaraderie among SJA members.
Wallace said Maggi was pleased to support meaningful community engagements during Ramadan, adding that the company remains committed to giving back to the community through various outreach programmes.
The distribution at Bandaran Berjaya drew positive responses from members of the public, many of whom welcomed the thoughtful gesture ahead of the breaking of fast.-pr/BNN
