TUARAN: In celebration of International Women’s Day, Shangri-La Rasa Ria hosted an impactful community event centred on the theme ‘Give to Gain’.
The gathering brought together approximately 60 women from the Tuaran community for a day of mentorship, health wellness, and professional empowerment.
The ‘Give to Gain’ theme highlighted the power of reciprocal support and knowledge-sharing within the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
By connecting established business leaders with aspiring entrepreneurs, the event fostered an environment where community collaboration serves as the foundation for individual success.
The event featured keynote sessions from two prominent entrepreneurs who shared their journeys and the philosophies that drove their success.
Melissa Lim, founder of Rustic Borneo Craft, discussed the importance of heritage and community collaboration in building a sustainable brand, while Datin Dr. Jeanette Tambakau, philanthropist, social entrepreneur owner of Jari Jari Spa, emphasised the necessity of a positive mindset and resilience when navigating the challenges of the business world.
To equip attendees with modern business tools, members of Shangri-La Rasa Ria’s Marketing Communications department, Shirley Olim and Ainatul Safaini Ramlie, led a specialised workshop.
Their session focused on how startups and small business owners can effectively utilise digital marketing and social media platforms to scale their reach and build brand identity in a competitive digital landscape.
Fiona Hagan, General Manager of Shangri-La Rasa Ria, highlighted the resort’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for women in Tuaran.
“At Shangri-La Rasa Ria, we believe that true success is found when we uplift those around us. The ‘Give to Gain’ theme reflects our commitment to creating a space where wisdom and opportunity are shared freely,” said Fiona.
“By empowering the women of Tuaran with the right tools and a positive mindset, we aren’t just supporting individual businesses—we are strengthening the very fabric of our community’s future,” she concluded.
Beyond the formal talks, the event served as a dynamic networking hub.
Aspiring entrepreneurs engaged in one-on-one mentorship moments with experienced leaders, gaining practical advice on how to turn their business visions into reality.
Recognising that professional success begins with personal health, the celebration also welcomed representatives from Klinik Kesihatan Tuaran.
The medical team provided free health screenings for all female attendees, emphasising the importance of preventative care and wellness for women in the community.
The ‘Give to Gain’ celebration reinforces Shangri-La Rasa Ria’s ongoing commitment to the Tuaran community, providing a platform for local women to gain the skills, confidence, and connections needed to thrive.-pr/BNN
