KOTA KINABALU: Playcation, an annual amateur sports tourism event held in Sabah, aims to connect people through sports, travel, business, and fostering international relationships.
Borneo Referral Group Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Brandon Chin said the innovative AI ranking system is a central feature of the WEEKLE League, a weekly amateur sports competition designed to offer players regular opportunities to compete, improve their rankings, and engage with the sport.
Brandon who is the organiser of Playcation Sabah have expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Datuk Nizam Haji Abu Bakar Titingan Minister of Youth Development, Sports Progress, and the Creative Economy of Sabah for attending the Playcation Gala Night and for officiating the launch of Sabah’s first-ever AI-powered sports ranking system, in conjunction with the Vave WEEKLE League.
Currently active in six countries, Playcation provides Sabahans with opportunities to travel to destinations such as Bali, Penang, Singapore, India, and the Philippines to participate in sports and develop global connections, Brandon said.
“The WEEKLE League offers a clear pathway for athletes, beginning at district level within Sabah, progressing to the Sabah Championship, and potentially advancing to international competitions, including the Singapore League, representing the Asian Championship—and the Croatia League, representing the European Championship.”
He emphasised that while Playcation focuses on annual amateur sports tourism, the WEEKLE League is dedicated to weekly competitive amateur sports, enhanced by cutting-edge AI technology.
Together, Playcation and WEEKLE aim to attract visitors to Sabah, elevate Sabahans onto the international stage, and utilise amateur sports as a means to promote tourism, foster business opportunities, build friendships, and encourage collaboration across borders.
