KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Health Department carried out its first rural outreach and house-to-house outreach vaccination programme at rural areas under the purview of the City Hall.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen said that the outreach programme was held at SK Talungan, Telipok which is under the purview of the City Hall and Borders with Tuaran District Council.
Dr Roland commended the effort by Sabah Health Department, Ministry of Health, Unit Pemimpin Pembangunan Masyarakat of N18 Inanam and N16 Karambunai for successfully in organizing the first vaccination outreach program in SK Talungan, Telipok.
Sekolah Kebangsaan Talungan, Telipok is estimated to be about 40 kilometers drive from the city centre, and is located at the Crocker range.
“A total of 1, 126 villagers from eight villages took part in the programme. They were from Kg Bunsut, Kg Talungan , Kg Natai, Kg Lawa Mondou, Kg Tombongon, Kg Seri Melidan , Kg Tampulan and Kg Kebayau and they came to the vaccination centre as early as 7am on July 23, ” said Dr Roland.
“The team from Sabah Health Department led by Dr Suhaila Osman, a Public Health Specialist started their journey as early as 7 am and worked till late evening and stayed overnight in SK Talungan to continue the next day to finish vaccinating the villagers. There was also a mobile team went house to house to ensure the bed-ridden and elderly patients to be vaccinated as well in, ” he added.
Also part of the team were Datuk Yakub Khan, State Minister of Science and Innovation cum State Assemblyman of Karambunai, People Development Unit Leader of N18 Inanam – Datuk William Majimbon and People Development Unit Leader of N16 Karambunai – Matlan Hj Taman to give moral support to the villagers and the team from Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah.-pr/BNN
