TUARAN: STAR takes the stance to continue to stand by the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Mahiaddin Yassin, and will not be swayed by the continuing opposition rhetoric in its attempt to topple the government.
STAR’S Strategic Director, Edward Linggu, in a statement said that the many political polemics has been bandied about by desperate politicians shouldn’t make us lose faith in the government’s stability.
“What we need to be reminded is that the Prime Minister is is a very secure position because the approach of the opposition leaders claiming they ‘have the number’ or that the PM has lost his majority support have no legal effect,” Linggu said. “The tactic of waving so-called statutory declarations (SDs) is also meaningless because the legitimate count of majority support must be at the floor of parliament.”
Linggu, who is also the former assemblyman of Tamparuli, also said that Sabah must ignore, and not be easily swayed by, all the conflicting reports and exaggerated claims coming from opposition leaders.
“We must continue to uphold Sabah’s political stability in the spirit of Sabah Maju Jaya with the unity in the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah under the capable leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Hj Noor,” he added, “The GRS has a five-year mandate and we should honour this responsibility for the sake of the people who are now suffering socially and economically because of the on-going pandemic.
“Sabahans at the moment also know the open secret that the effort by some leaders to take over the nation;s premiership is not motivated only by the desire for changing the government but also by the fear of their personal future due to their personal issues with the law.”
Linggue also assured that STAR under the leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Jeffrey G Kitingan, has full confidence in the able and leadership of the Prime Minister.-pr/BNN
