KOTA KINABALU: The word ekor is very degrading to the Chinese community and no amount of apology will heal the damaging remark to this community.
A statement issued by Datuk Roland Chia, the Chief Minister’s Political Secretary, stated that the Chinese were not animals nor low lives and the Chinese in Sabah and Malaysia was integral part of the community in the formation of Sabah and Malaysia.
“To label us as ekor is demeaning to all Chinese Sabahans and Malaysians. The words uttered reflected the inner thoughts and actions of one leader. For this reason, i urge our Chinese community to take stock and to reflect when we cast our ballot on the 19th November 2022 on whether we should vote for a party that label us as animals and resort to gutter politics by demeaning a single race as ekor.”
“This will go down as history that a Sabahan former Chief Minister and former federal minister resorting to ekor politics. We must reject EKOR politics.”
“For the record, under the leadership of YAB DSP Haji Hajiji bin Haji Noor, the Chief Minister of Sabah. Given the zero representative of chinese in the GRS-BN government, YB DSP Yong Teck Lee was appointed Nominated assemblyman. “
“On the GLC front, DSP Yee Moh Chai was appointed as the Chairman of Sabah Credit Corporation, Datuk Edward Yong as Chairman of Hyatt International Hotel, Datuk Vincent Pung heading Sabah Development Bank, Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat as Special Advisor to CM on Tourism, Datuk Peter Thien as the Special Advisor to CM on Finance and Economy , Datuk Adeline Leong as Chairman of IDS and many others Chinese political community leaders to government positions,” the statement read.
The Chief Minister has also formed the Sabah Economic Advisory Council where comprised of Sabahan Chinese Industrialists to advise the Sabah State Government.
“Also under YAB DSP Hajiji, the chief minister has allocated the highest allocation to non Muslims organisation including Chinese Schools ( Independent and Government) , Chinese Temples, Mission Schools, Churches and Hindu Temple. In 2022 is RM47 Million and In 2023 is RM54 Million announced by the Chief Minister personally.”
On the investment front, many Chinese investors have expressed confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister in his inclusive and consensus leadership in bringing all parties to form Gabungan Rakyat Sabah thus creating political stability to the State of Sabah.
“I urge the Chinese community to reject political parties that labels us as dogs and cats.”-pr/BNN
