KUALA LUMPUR,: The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) has expressed five aspirations on Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s maiden official visit to China.
They are as follows:
1. That the official visit to China will further enhance the existing strategic partnership between Malaysia and China, to facilitate closer cooperation in various sectors.
2. To extend a warm invitation to invite China’s President, Xi Jinping and his colleagues to visit Malaysia.
3. To review the five-year programme for economic and trade co-operation between Malaysia and China, which was signed in 2013, in order to further enhance such mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
4. To resume hosting of the ‘Malaysia and China Year of Culture and Tourism’, to boost bilateral ties and friendship between the people of the two countries, and to attract more Chinese tourists to visit Malaysia. This will essentially boost Malaysia’s tourism industry and the economy, as a whole.
5. To establish a special bilateral committee to make plans and preparations for the 50th anniversary celebrations of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, next year.
Expressing this was Huazong President, Tan Sri T.C Goh in a statement issued today, while commenting on Anwar’s maiden official visit to China tomorrow (29 March). He was rather hopeful of the said five expectations, citing the strong bond between the two nations, all these years.
Goh, who is also President of The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) also confirmed that he will be leading a group of Huazong leaders in joining the Prime Minister’s entourage to China, tomorrow.
He also welcomed the Prime Minister’s statement yesterday that the government through the said visit will focus on securing new and significant investments from China, so as to stimulate and accelerate our economic recovery, post Covid-19 pandemic.
Goh was also convinced that irrespective of changes of political powers in the country, as what happened in the recent years, Malaysia and China will continue to maintain and enhance the existing bilateral relations and strategic partnership, which was established 49 years ago.-pr/BNN
