KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor welcomed the collaboration between Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (Sabah Electricity) and the State Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) to ensure electricity supply reaches every corner of the state.

“This endeavour complements the State Government’s efforts to ensure people in the state, particularly those in the rural and interior areas, have access to electricity,” he said after witnessing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Sabah Electricity and UPPM Sabah at Menara Kinabalu today.

The Chief Minister said it also falls under he purview of the Community Development Leaders (PPM) in delivering the best possible service to constituents in their respective areas. He said the PPM have a vital role to discharge their duties diligently and responsibly.

Under the one-year MoU, both Sabah Electricity and UPPM Sabah would work together to improve electricity connectivity, especially to areas that have yet to be covered, develop sustainable energy infrastructure and create more awareness among the people on Sabah Electricity’s services and functions as well as on efficient usage of energy.

Job opportunities would also be created from projects implemented under the collaboration.

In a nutshell, the strategic partnership between Sabah Electricity and UPPM Sabah will serve as a focal point for all matters related to Sabah Electricity’s services.

Signing the MoU on behalf of Sabah Electricity was Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir Ts Mohd Yaakob Jaafar, while Director Datuk Awang Kadin Tang represented UPPM Sabah.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Seri Panglima Sr Safar Untong and State Attorney-General Datuk Brenndon Keith Soh.-pr/BNN
