KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chinese-based Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) plays a significant role in the development of Chinese education in the state.
LDP has worked hard on facilitating and securing more allocation from the State Government to ease the Chinese schools financial burden and also make sure the development projects are completed.
“As the Chinese saying goes, education should not be compromised by poverty,” said BN-LDP Likas state seat candidate Datuk Chin Shu Ying.
He said caretaker Special Tasks Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Teo Chee Kang has worked tirelessly in securing the State Government’s allocation for Chinese primary, secondary and independent schools as well as advocating for the Unified Examination Certificate to be given recognition by the BN’s State Government.
There are many schools concentrated in Likas area and they need an elected representative who could help them to facilitate the government allocation, he said.
Hence, Chin urged the Likas voters to support him during polling day next week to give him an opportunity to serve the people and schools in the constituency through the BN-LDP platform.
“The Chinese voters in Likas should ensure a landslide victory for BN-LDP candidate as a solution to address the shortage of funds faced by Chinese schools in Likas,” called Chin who is also LDP’s vice president.
He hoped the Likas voters, especially the Chinese, would support his commitment in pursuing for more State Government and elected representative (ADUN) fund for the schools in the constituency.
The overwhelming support will help realise his vision of transforming Likas into a successful education hub in Malaysia.
Despite losing the Likas seat in the last election, Chin has continued to serve the people in the constituency to secure State Government’s resources for schools.
Since being appointed as the chairman of the Board of Governors of SJK(C) Chung Hwa Likas, he has successfully completed many projects to upgrade the infrastructure and facility of the school.
And as the chairman of Sabah Chinese Kindergarten Board Association, he has introduced various reforms to improve early childhood education and organised countless activities.
He has also secured allocation from the State Government to build the covered walkway from Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School to Damai community centre to ease the traffic congestion during school days.
He also rubbished DAP’s Likas candidate Tan Lee Fatt’s claim that Chinese could not do much in the government under BN.
Chin pointed out that DAP-led Penang government headed by its secretary general Lim Guan Eng has never increased its annual allocation of RM 8.5 million for Chinese schools since 2010.
He said DAP was only good at holding political talks to seek donation from Sabahans, especially the Chinese where thousands of ringgit was collected in each event, but how much was given back to the society or used in education?.
He said DAP was merely paying lip service and what has Tan Lee Fatt, special assistant to the incumbent Kota Kinabalu MP Jimmy Wong, done for Chinese education in Sabah?-By Moses Wong/BNN
