KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) Sabah State Liaison Committee today welcomed a courtesy visit from the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) Sabah Office at Wisma STC, Luyang, Kota Kinabalu.
The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in promoting crime prevention, human rights awareness, and community well-being. The visit took place on 20 July 2026 at 3.00 p.m. at Wisma STC, Kota Kinabalu.
The SUHAKAM delegation was led by YBhg. Datuk Mariati Robert, Vice Chairman of SUHAKAM, and comprised YBrs. Dr. Zufar Yadi Brendan Abdullah, Children’s Commissioner of SUHAKAM, Ms. Qalista S. Dohny, Chief Assistant Secretary, SUHAKAM Sabah Office, Mr. Irsyad Hamilin, Assistant Secretary, SUHAKAM Sabah Office, Ms. Daflonia Daniel, Assistant Secretary, SUHAKAM Sabah Office; as well as industrial trainees Ms. Nurul Elfiana binti Bismin and Mr. Alvin bin Abdul.
The delegation was received by YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) T. C. Goh, JP, Chairman of MCPF Sabah, together with members of the MCPF Sabah State Liaison Committee comprising Mr. Khian Chong (Secretary), Ms. Juddy Chu (Treasurer), Datuk Fung Chun Fatt, Mr. Rayyan Foo, and Mr. Lee Su Yee.
During the courtesy visit, both parties exchanged views on current issues relating to crime prevention, human rights advocacy, community safety, youth engagement, and public awareness.
The discussion underscored the importance of closer collaboration between MCPF Sabah and SUHAKAM in promoting a society that is not only safe and secure but also respectful of fundamental human rights, social harmony, and the rule of law.
Both organisations expressed their commitment to exploring joint programmes, educational initiatives, and community outreach activities that will benefit the people of Sabah.
Both organisations engaged in meaningful discussions on matters of mutual interest, particularly on fostering a safer society through preventive approaches, enhancing public awareness of crime prevention, and promoting respect for human rights within the community.
The dialogue also explored opportunities for future collaboration in educational programmes, public outreach initiatives, and community engagement activities.
Speaking during the meeting, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) T. C. Goh, JP expressed his appreciation to SUHAKAM for the visit and reaffirmed MCPF Sabah’s commitment to working closely with government agencies, statutory bodies, and civil society organisations in creating a secure, harmonious, and inclusive society.
“Crime prevention and the protection of human rights are complementary objectives. Through closer collaboration, we can enhance public awareness, strengthen community resilience, and promote a culture of mutual respect and responsibility.”
The courtesy visit also provided an opportunity for both organisations to exchange views on current social issues affecting communities in Sabah and to identify practical initiatives that can contribute towards improving public safety while upholding the principles of justice, equality, and human dignity.
MCPF Sabah welcomed the engagement and expressed confidence that the meeting would serve as a catalyst for closer cooperation between MCPF and SUHAKAM in advancing shared objectives for the benefit of the people of Sabah.
This aligns with MCPF Sabah’s intention that the courtesy visit further strengthens the relationship between both organisations.
The visit concluded with a ceremonial exchange of souvenirs between YBhg. Datuk Mariati Robert, Vice Chairman of SUHAKAM, and YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) T. C. Goh, JP, Chairman of MCPF Sabah, symbolising the strong partnership and mutual commitment of both organisations to advancing public safety, human rights, and community development in Sabah.
