Puteri UMNO urged to get closer to the people

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Puteri UMNO movement has been asked learn from the defeat in the 14th General Election.

Sabah UMNO Liaison Chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, said apart from that they must study the reason why the people rejected the Barisan Nasional (BN) Government and UMNO.

He said the Puteri leaders members must work hard to get closer to the people especially the younger generation, so to instil confidence in them, using good and softer political approaches and the current political trend liked by them.

“Get closer to the people especially the younger generation and organise more visitation, welfare and other community-based activities,” he said.

Hajiji said this at a meeting with Puteri UMNO Chief, Datuk Zahida Zarikh Khan and Sabah Puteri UMNO leaders at the meeting room of Sabah UMNO Building here Wednesday.

Hajiji, who is also Tuaran UMNO Division Chief, also wants Puteri members to continue strengthening unity and solidarity.

“Five months has past after GE14, we must continue to strengthen ourselves and our struggles,” he said.

He said Puteri UMNO also need to change their political ways and try to adapt to the current political scenario.

“Let us stop dreaming and acting like when we are still the Government,” he said.

“Whatever the outcome of the Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman suit on the dispute on the rightful Chief Minister, we must continue to work hard to get closer to the people so they continue to feel the presence of UMNO and its struggles for the betterment of their future,” said Hajiji, who is also Sulaman Assemblyman.-By LSK/BNN
