CM pays last respect on deceased minister

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah ministers led by Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Shafie Apdal (second left) paid their respects on the late Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt here late Friday afternoon.
Among the ministers present at the Fook Lu Siew funeral parlour were Minister of Infrastructure Development, Datuk Peter Anthony (behind, second left), Minister of Law and Native Affairs, Datuk Aidi Mokhtar (second right) and Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Frankie Poon (third right). Also present but not in the picture was Minister of Education and Innovation, Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob.
The Chief Minister spent more than an hour with the bereaved family and consoling the widow, Chong Mee Fook. Wong also left behind three daughters, a son and two grandchildren.
Wong will be laid to rest in his hometown of Sandakan at the Sandakan Christian Burial Ground along Mile 12 off Labuk Road on Monday, April 1. His body will be flown from Kota Kinabalu on Saturday, March 30 and a two-day wake service will be held at the San Fook Hing Funeral Parlour.
The two-term Sandakan MP and Sabah DAP chairman was also the state Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister.
He passed away on Thursday, March 28 aged 64 after a hike at the Tambaig Adventure Park in Kg Duvanson, Putatan.-pr/BNN
