KOTA KINABALU: The Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) on Saturday contributed 10,000 pieces of face masks and 50 cartons of bottled drinking water to the frontliners of Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK).
The said aid was handed over to the Mayor, Datuk Nordin Siman by FCAS president Tan Sri T.C Goh who was accompanied by its vice presidents Lim Vun Chan, Fung Chun Fatt, and treasurer-general, David Chan. Also present at the occasion was DBKK director-general, Noorliza Awang Alip, and her deputy Lifred Wong.
In a press release issued today, Goh said the said relief was in recognition and support of the City Hall officers and personnel who are carrying out their duties in the frontlines amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing movement control order (MCO). The City Hall requires around 60,000 face masks per week to equip its frontliners who included its enforcement officers, janitors and garbage collectors.
The FCAS delegation later also distributed 10,000 pieces of face masks to the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), in support of its enforcement personnel who are assisting in securing Sabah borders at sea. The said face masks which were donated by FCAS Advisor, Fabian Ng Eng Hieng, were received by director of MMEA Sabah and Labuan, First Admiral Mohd Rosli Abdullah.
Goh who is also the president of The Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Huazong) once again expressed his utmost gratitude to all those individuals and companies who generously contributed to the ongoing nationwide Covid-19 Relief campaign, in aid of the frontliners, which was initiated by Huazong and participated by all its member associations.
Early this week, on 31 March, FCAS also handed over 100 cartons of Spritzer mineral water and some teabags which were sponsored by Yee Lee Trading Sdn Bhd, to the State police contingent. This was followed by delivery of a host of Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and medical equipment to the Lahad Datu district hospital, on 1 April.
It has also committed to deliver free meals (breakfast and dinner) to 25 frontliners at the Tuaran District Hospital during MCO period, starting 18 March until 14 April. This food aid is being coordinated by its 3rd vice president, Datuk Alexander Lo Su Hyen.
Besides this, FCAS also donated 100 pieces of rubber mattresses to the Kota Marudu Covid-19 center, for the Patients Under Investigation (PUI) there.-pr/BNN
