KOTA KINABALU: University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) successfully hosted the Seminar on Contemporary Islamic Social Finance, bringing together academics, industry experts, and representatives from Majlis Ugama Islam Sabah (MUIS) to discuss contemporary Islamic social  finance challenges.

The seminar was jointly organized by UCSF and MUIS, supported by International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

Some academics from few different universities as well as officers from MUIS presented their papers and findings.

Among others Assoc Prof Dr Asmy, Assoc Prof Dr Aslam, Assoc Prof Dr Hassanudin and Assoc Prof Dr Ahmad Khaliq from IIUM, Dr Isa from UMS, Ustaz Manan, Dr Putra and Ustaz Fikri from MUIS, Datuk  Dr Rafiq Idris and Dr Gusni  from UCSF presented their papers.

During the one day seminar poster exhibition was also held. MUIS also opened its mobile clinic Waqf An-Nur at UCSF.

In his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor of UCSF said Islamic social finance through the strategic deployment of Zakat, Waqf, and Sadaqah offers a robust, ethical blueprint to tackle today’s economic disparities.
