KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asia OneHealthcare Group (A1H) to deploy its ULTRA5G In-Building Coverage (IBC) across the Group’s hospitals nationwide. This partnership marks U Mobile’s latest foray into the healthcare sector, significantly enhancing its indoor 5G footprint.

The initial phase will cover 15 hospitals, including Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) and select Columbia Asia hospitals. SJMC is the first hospital in this collaboration to go live with the high-speed network, paving the way for further expansion across other A1H facilities.

Lih Ren, Chief Business Officer of U Mobile, commented, “As we expand our next-generation 5G network across Malaysia, we recognise healthcare as a vital sector where reliable indoor connectivity can make a real difference. We’re delighted to partner with Asia OneHealthcare to strengthen indoor coverage and explore how advanced 5G capabilities can enable innovative healthcare solutions that improve operational efficiency and patient experiences.”

With healthcare increasingly relying on digital tools and connected systems, robust 5G indoor connectivity is essential for seamless communication, quick access to information, and efficient operations. Beyond the rollout of 5G In-Building Coverage, U Mobile and A1H will also evaluate how 5G and future 5G-Advanced technologies can support healthcare use cases, optimise workflows, and foster more connected healthcare environments.

Anwar Anis Bin Anis Ahmad, Group Chief Commercial Officer of A1H, stated, “We continually explore advanced technologies to improve operational efficiency and patient care. This collaboration with U Mobile allows us to investigate how enhanced connectivity and digital innovations can support future healthcare applications, such as smart ward systems, ensuring our hospitals remain at the forefront of digital adoption as technologies evolve.”

As part of this initiative, selected proof-of-concept projects will be developed through U Mobile’s Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP), an open innovation environment that fosters collaboration among enterprises, technology partners, startups, academia, and stakeholders. This platform aims to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative solutions powered by 5G-Advanced, AI, and next-generation digital infrastructure, unlocking new opportunities for growth and transformation.

The deployment across A1H hospitals further expands U Mobile’s 5G In-Building Coverage, which now exceeds 200 sites nationwide. This collaboration underscores U Mobile’s commitment to delivering superior 5G connectivity both outdoors and indoors, particularly across key sectors, to meet the evolving digital needs of organisations and their users.-pr/BNN
