KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd (SEC) will channel RM200,000 in welfare contributions from sponsorships and participation fees raised through the SEC Charity Golf Tournament 2026, held at Sutera Harbour Golf & Country Club on October 31.

Of the total amount, RM150,000 will be channelled to Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah, while the remaining RM50,000 will be distributed to other welfare organisations in the state to be identified later.

SEC Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ir Ts Adzmir Abd Rahman said the responsibility of developing Sabah also extended to safeguarding the well-being of its people.

“There are families who need support to meet their basic needs. There are children who need opportunities to continue their education. There are also those rebuilding their lives after hardship.

“Meaningful assistance begins with understanding their needs, delivering support while preserving the dignity of recipients, and managing contributions responsibly,” he said.

Adzmir also stressed that the trust sponsors and participants place in SEC must be upheld with the utmost responsibility.

“Every contribution is a trust. We value this confidence and are committed to ensuring that all contributions received are managed responsibly and channelled towards their intended charitable purposes,” he said.

Meanwhile, SEC expressed its appreciation to Platinum Sponsor Sepangar Bay Power Corporation Sdn Bhd, Gold Sponsors Supreme LNG, Gamuda Berhad and Sistem Konsult Sdn Bhd, as well as all Silver Sponsors, contributors and participating teams for their support in making the tournament and its charitable objectives a success.

He said the collaboration reflected the role the corporate community could play in addressing societal needs, with relationships forged through business and sports serving as a foundation for delivering broader benefits to Sabah.

Adzmir hoped the collaboration would continue to expand its benefits to communities across the state.

“May the friendships strengthened today become a source of strength in helping us ease the burdens of those in need and create opportunities for them,” he said.

Themed “Swing with Purpose. Drive for Impact”, the golf tournament brought together sponsors, business partners and participants to support charitable causes while strengthening relationships through golf.

The initiative reflects SEC’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in addressing community needs and ensuring that development efforts also benefit the people of Sabah.

It also complements SEC’s various initiatives in education, welfare and environmental conservation, which are implemented according to community needs.-pr/BNN
