KOTA KINABALU: Sabah UMNO respect the decision made by Sukau Assemblyman Datuk Saddi Haji Abdul Rahman to quit UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN).
Its Liaison Chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor, said the party had anticipated that Saddi would take such action considering he is no longer holding any post at UMNO divisional level.
According to him, Saddi’s action will not jeopardise the strength of both UMNO Sabah and UMNO Kinabatangan division, as the spirit of UMNO members are still very strong and would continue on rising when facing such test and challenges.
“UMNO has many leaders and thus, for those who quit or resign from the party, there are definitely replacements,” he said after meeting with divisional leaders of the three UMNO Sabah movements held at the Sabah UMNO building here today.
However, he said, Sabah UMNO has yet to receive an official letter from Saddi regarding his decision.
“I only came to know about it through the mass media. I have not receive any official letter.  If that is Saddi’s decision, then Sabah UMNO respect his decision to become an independent assemblyman,” he said.
Hajiji said Saddi’s decision will not change Sabah UMNO’s status which is now as an opposition party.
He said Sabah UMNO will continue to work harder in serving the people of Sabah and fighting for their interests and future.
“UMNO does not make empty promises and lie to the people, like what the present Parti Warisan Sabah and Pakatan Harapan (PH) governments are doing,” he said.-By L.S.Kuang/BNN
