In a remarkable achievement, Malawira Sdn Bhd has successfully obtained Intellectual Property (IP) rights in 2019 for its pioneering extraction of Crystalline Nano Cellulose Fiber from palm waste, positioning itself as the world’s first entity to achieve this feat.
The breakthrough technology leverages the waste produce of the Palm Oil Mill, specifically the Empty Fruit Bunch, to extract Crystalline Nano Cellulose, which holds immense potential for a wide range of applications.

The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup, presented the prestigious certification to Malawira/Nano Malaysia on the 15th May 2023 in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the development of this groundbreaking technology.
Mr. Raymond Chan CEO and Mr Hassan Tahir Project Director of Malawira, accepted the certification during the ceremony. This pioneering initiative aligns seamlessly with the government’s vision of fostering sustainable development and establishing a circular economy.
