KOTA KINABALU: Tan Sri T. C. Goh,Permanent Honorary President of the Hua Zong (Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia) and President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS), welcomed the statement by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasizing that the Federal Government will fully strengthen and accelerate the advancement of Sabah’s development agenda and further unleash its development potential following the establishment of the new state government.

He believes the Federal Government should prioritize the swift fulfillment of the “40% net tax revenue for Sabah” as a matter of utmost importance.

He stated that the Prime Minister, in a Facebook post the night before which included a summary infographic titled “Sabah Towards Greater Prosperity and Progress in 2025,” showcased content including the Madani government’s determination to implement Sabah’s 40% net tax revenue rights.

He expressed hope that this demonstrates the Federal Government’s resolve and efforts in “returning tax revenue to Sabah.”

“Just as the Prime Minister said, Sabah under the leadership of the Madani government is continuously progressing towards greater advancement and prosperity.

Related policies will be based on fulfilling the promises of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and more efficient infrastructure management.

As people of Sabah, we all hope the Federal Government will intensify and expedite their fulfillment in this aspect,” he said.

Tan Sri T. C. Goh, who is also President of the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Sabah and Labuan, commented on Prime Minister Anwar’s statement in a press release today.

He noted that the just-concluded Sabah state election results indicate that the people need a Sabah government with a local consciousness, emphasizing greater state sovereignty.

“The people also hope the Federal Government can pay more attention and strengthen cooperation and collaboration with the Sabah state government more than in the past, to maximize development across all sectors in Sabah through mutual political or administrative benefits, rather than continuing the imbalance!”

He welcomed and expressed anticipation for the Prime Minister’s statement that development “will be implemented through strategic investments to drive inclusive economic growth, upgrade infrastructure construction, and create high-quality job opportunities, in line with the true development potential of the ‘Land Below the Wind’.”

He hopes the Federation can cooperate with and assist the new state government through the most practical actions to complete the relevant agenda swiftly.

He said the new state government’s 5-year term has just begun, whereas the Federal Government has less than two years left in its term.

Therefore, he hopes the Federation can quicken its pace and fulfill its series of commitments to Sabah with greater political will and administrative decisiveness.

He stated that, as mentioned by the Prime Minister, key sectors in Sabah such as energy, tourism, modern agriculture, and the blue economy possess significant development potential.

The people hope that with more proactive cooperation from the Federation, security and sovereignty safeguards can be further consolidated.

Tan Sri T. C. Goh also hopes the Federal Government will continue to strengthen development allocations to Sabah to help improve the state’s infrastructure levels, while also assisting Sabah in attracting more foreign investment to set up factories and invest in the state in various aspects.-pr/BNN
